Arkansas Shorts – A Night of Short FIlm is a showcase of short films created by natives and current residents of Arkansas. Shorts films are 10 minutes or less and span all genres including narrative, documentary, music video and experimental films.
Sometimes called the “Jewel of January,” it is one of the most fun, and anticipated events of the year. Filmmakers and film lovers often wear their Hollywood best! Arkansas Shorts will be held January 6, 2018 at the newly renovated Malco Theatre. For more information visit the Facebook page.
Held on the first weekend of October, the Hot Water Hills Music & Arts Festival is an outdoor event featuring original music, and fine artists and artisans from around the country.
There is always a special activities area for kids to have some hands-on fun. Plenty of food, soda, beer and wine too. The VOV is a small-venue, home-spun music festival that takes place each March in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Since 2005, The VOV has been bringing innovative performers from the global underground music and art community to the small town of Hot Springs.
The VOV has hosted nearly 3,000 musicians and artists from around the world including Japan, South Korea, China, Norway, England, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Canada and the United States. For more information visit the Facebook page.
Inception to Projection is a 6-week intensive film class open to all ages. Every participant will write and produce a video of their own. Final videos will be screened at Arkansas Shorts.
Production Lecture classes are spent learning filmmaking fundamentals such as directing, producing, casting, cinematography and editing. Participants are expected to work on small crews for one another, giving each filmmaker an opportunity not only to write and direct but also practice production roles such as cinematographer, producer, 1st assistant director, sound recorder or production designer.
By the end of the course, each participant will complete their own short film.
